Applying AI in early diagnosis of psoriasis and skin cancer
At the 2025 Annual National Dermatology Conference and the 3rd Dermatology Research Conference organized by the Central Dermatology Hospital in collaboration with Quang Nam Dermatology Hospital, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh - Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital emphasized: In the context of the strong development of world medicine, the Vietnamese Dermatology industry has constantly innovated, applying many modern scientific and technological advances such as: laser, stem cells, biotechnology, artificial intelligence in medical examination, treatment and skin aesthetics.
These contributions not only improve the quality of treatment for people, but also contribute to affirming the prestige and position of the Vietnamese dermatology industry in the region and the world.
"Digital transformation and technology transfer are identified as the core strategy of the dermatology industry. Over the past year, the hospital has deployed many applications of science and technology and digital transformation in medical examination and treatment; at the same time, expanding the specialized model to localities. There are currently 26 deployment points nationwide," said Associate Professor. Doanh said.
Notably, this year's conference recorded many reports on artificial intelligence (AI) in the dermatology field, including a research topic chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Sau, applying AI in early diagnosis of psoriasis and skin cancer.
The reports and discussions focus on diverse topics in the dermatology industry such as: pathology, internal medicine, dermatitis, skin fungus, psoriasis, phlegm, skin cancer, farming, hair loss, sexually transmitted diseases, scars and many rare diseases.
In addition, there is a report on posters introducing research works and special clinical cases. Notably, the event is organized in a combination of in-person and online, making it easy for doctors across the country to attend, updating knowledge promptly and conveniently.

Warning about fake cosmetics and poor quality cosmetics
One of the alarming issues, warned by many dermatologists, is the problem of fake cosmetics and poor quality cosmetics that seriously affect the health of consumers.
Recently, the authorities have seized thousands of poor quality beauty products containing very high doses of corticoids, mercury, hydroquinone, exfoliants, etc.
When using these products, initially whitening the skin is very quick, but after a few weeks it will cause thin skin, redness, dilation of capillaries, severe acne flare-ups, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, decreased skin barrier, severe infections, even blood infections in severe cases... Therefore, the message that dermatologists send to the community is that beauty is quick and always comes with risks. Safe and sustainable beauty is the new trend of modern medicine.
Sharing on the sidelines of the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh said that recently, the Central Dermatology Hospital has received many cases of complications due to cosmetics of unknown origin - most patients have to undergo long-term, expensive treatment, some cases leave permanent scars. Following the trend of accelerated beauty; using products of unknown origin; trusting celebrities or KOLs instead of doctors makes many patients pay the price based on health and treatment costs.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh recommends that people when doing beauty treatments should choose products with clear inspection and origin. Treatment of acne, melasma, hair loss... requires a specialist to examine and develop a regimen. Do not perform encroachment procedures at unlicensed facilities. Get enough sleep, reduce stress, eat healthy is an important foundation for healthy skin.
During the 3 days of the conference (November 13-15, 2025), there will be 26 scientific sessions and a number of in-depth seminars, with 150 reports including more than 30 international experts from many countries with famous scientific backgrounds for advances in medicine and dermatology, such as the US, France, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Australia, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, etc.
This is one of the biggest scientific events of the dermatology industry in 2025, bringing new knowledge, making a practical contribution to the sustainable development of the industry in the period of extensive international integration.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the conference gathering a large number of leading domestic and foreign experts is a valuable opportunity to promote the image of Da Nang - a dynamic, safe, and livable city, while promoting scientific exchanges, medical cooperation and tourism development.
