Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch on accelerating measles vaccination against the predicted complicated developments of the disease.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Director of the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Heads of agencies, units and localities to urgently and fully implement these tasks and solutions to quickly vaccinate against measles according to the direction of the Prime Minister; organize and complete the measles vaccination campaign in March 2025.
The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Director of the Department of Education and Training, the Director of the Department of Finance, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the district and town shall proactively and actively coordinate with the Director of the Department of Health in directing and implementing tasks and solutions to quickly vaccinate against measles.
Regarding the measles situation in the city, according to information from the Department of Health, in 2024, the city recorded 191 cases of measles positive and 250 cases of clinical diagnosed measles. No deaths have been recorded.
From the beginning of 2025 to March 15, 2025, Can Tho recorded 29 cases of measles positive, 254 cases of clinical diagnosed measles. No deaths have been recorded.

According to the results from 2024 to 2025, Can Tho recorded 9 measles outbreaks ( ended) in 9 districts/counties. According to the assessment, in recent times, Binh Thuy, Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts are the 3 localities that have recorded higher numbers of measles positive cases than the remaining localities.
Regarding the situation of suspected measles rash fever cases, in 2024, the city collected samples of 1,017 cases, including 191 positive for measles, 36 negative for measles and 790 cases without test results.
In 2025 (from January 1 to March 15), 196 cases were sampled, including 29 positive for measles, 3 negative for measles and 164 cases with no test results. During this period, the number of suspected measles rash fever cases recorded in January was 140, in February was 42 cases, in March was 14 cases, compared to the same period in 2024, there was an increase of 194 cases.
The number of suspected measles rash fever cases in the first quarter of 2025 increased compared to the same period, the health sector predicts that the measles situation will continue to develop complicatedly in the coming time, thereby promoting the implementation of many disease prevention and control measures.
