On June 13, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son District (Nghe An) said that Nghe An Provincial Police and functional forces are coordinating with the district to verify and clarify the case of a group of people wearing white blouses taking advantage of free health check-ups to sell high-priced functional foods to poor people in mountainous areas.
The leader of Nghe An Department of Health also said that he had sent professional staff directly to Ky Son district to check the incident. The viewpoint of the health sector is to clarify, strictly and thoroughly handle, not condone any violation of the law, especially those affecting poor people, emphasized a representative of the Nghe An Department of Health.

Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, clips and articles were circulating on social networks reflecting a group of people wearing blouses going to Pha Danh Commune (Ky Son District) for free health check-ups, then offering health protection products for 700,000 VND/bunch, down to 350,000 VND/bunch. People were introduced to two types of products: "Bao Minh Drink" and "An Binh Bones and Joints Drink", with the total value later reduced to 700,000 VND for both bottles.
Ms. Vy Thi Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Pha Danh commune - confirmed that the above group of people belonged to Viet My International Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company. "When coming to work with the commune, the company only asked for permission to have a health check-up but was not allowed to sell drugs. But then they arbitrarily introduced and sold the product to people, said Ms. Thanh.
Notably, according to Ms. Thanh, this company has reached people in 10 communes of Ky Son district and many people have spent millions of VND to buy products.
Mr. Vy Chien Thang - Head of the Ky Son District Health Department - confirmed that the district had issued a document allowing this company to promote its products, not sell them. "They took advantage of the promotion to carry out illegal sales activities. Those wearing blouses are not doctors, said Mr. Thang, adding that the unit is currently reviewing and recovering the products that have been sold and working with the company to request refunds to the people.
On June 12, Nghe An Department of Health also sent a document to Ky Son District People's Committee requesting verification and clarification of information related to medical examination and treatment activities and consultation, selling functional foods that are not in accordance with regulations.
