Saving the life of a patient with myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest twice

Doctors at Phenikaa University Hospital have just deployed interdisciplinary cooperation to save the life of a patient with myocardial infarction and double cardiac arrest.

The female patient (72 years old) was taken to Phenikaa University Hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition. Previously, the patient suddenly had typical symptoms of acute myocardial infarction: Dizziness, chest tightness, shortness of breath, severe chest pain from the back of the sternum spreading to the neck, accompanied by frequent vomiting at home.

At the PhenikaaMec Emergency Resuscitation Center, doctors quickly examined and determined that the patient with acute myocardial infarction had complications of dangerous arrhythmia on an electrocardiogram (outside the double heartbeat center there was a rapid, intolerant heart attack). It is impossible to know the nearby arteries due to blood clots without a coronary artery scan.

In the face of the emergency situation, an interdisciplinary consultation was immediately conducted. The medical team from the Cardiovascular Center and the PhenikaaMec Emergency Resuscitation Center quickly coordinated and deployed interventions to supply anti-arrhythmia drugs, used anticoagulants immediately and quickly took them to the cardiovascular intervention room (Catterlab room).

The top goal is to clear the coronary artery flow to return blood to the heart as soon as possible to preserve the patient's life.

MSc. Dr. Nguyen Danh Quy and the intervention team of PhenikaaMec Cardiovascular Center performed a coronary artery scan and discovered a blood clot causing a blockage of a branch of the coronary artery (hat artery).

Immediately after the coronary chupation, the patient had a vibratory and cardiac arrest, the intervention team immediately gave him a concussion and pressured his heart out of the chest.

"After emergency care, the patient had a stable, dynamic blood vessel, the intervention team immediately decided to inject thrombosis and place a stent to completely resolve the blockage. However, during the procedure, the patient continued to have a flaccidity and cardiac arrest once again and the intervention team performed both emergency and stent placement" - the doctor shared.

Thanks to the tireless efforts and smooth synchronous coordination of the intervention case, the cornea stent placement was successful. The patient continued to receive continuous anti-arrhythmia drugs, the patient gradually recovered completely, and had stable blood pressure. Immediately after that, the patient fully recovered, had no difficulty breathing, was only tired, had a light chest infection when trying, and could eat and drink normally.

This successful case is a testament to high professional qualifications and close, smooth, and synchronous coordination between specialties.

From diagnosis, handling developments and events quickly and accurately, to timely intervention and intensive resuscitation, each step shows the professionalism and dedication of the entire medical team.

This case of the patient is an emergency warning bell to the community about cardiovascular diseases, especially acute myocardial infarction. The disease can progress rapidly and be life-threatening, especially in the elderly.

Cardiovascular disease is trending younger. Regardless of age, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, working at a reasonable rest, a scientific diet and exercising regularly is very important. However, this is still not enough to ensure a healthy heart.

Cardiologists recommend that the community should conduct periodic cardiovascular screening to detect early signs of risk, especially for people with a family history of cardiovascular disease, people who smoke, drink a lot of alcohol, stay up late, work stressfully, or people with underlying diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes.

Early screening is the most effective measure for timely prevention and treatment, helping each heartbeat to be cared for, and each person can live a healthy life.
