On November 2, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) informed that the dengue fever epidemic is spreading strongly in the area at the end of 2025. The grassroots health system is making great efforts to prevent and control the epidemic.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has recorded more than 7,300 cases of dengue fever. Of which, there were 3 deaths. On October 31 alone, the whole province detected more than 60 new infections, with outbreaks spread across many communes and wards.
Previously, in 2023, Dak Lak recorded 4,970 cases of dengue fever, 6 deaths. In 2024, the number of cases increased to 7,372 cases. Of which, there were 3 deaths. It is forecasted that in 2025, the number of cases in the area will continue to increase compared to last year.
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of CDC Dak Lak - commented: "2025 is the cycle of dengue fever peak every 3 years, so the number of cases tends to increase.
In addition, the weather in the last months of the year is unusual, with heavy rain, making it difficult to prevent and control epidemics. Many outbreaks in remote areas are difficult to completely handle and easily recur."
According to Mr. Phuc, in some places, local authorities are still confused in their instructions, health stations have not proactively advised and a part of the people have not actively responded to environmental sanitation activities, mosquito control, and lungbage control.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committees of communes and wards have established Steering Committees for disease prevention and control, and at the same time launched a general environmental cleaning campaign, cleared forest dust, killed mosquito larvae and worms.
Mobile propaganda teams have also gone to each household to distribute leaflets, instruct on disease prevention measures and call on people to join hands to repel the epidemic.
