According to the Department of Health of Hai Duong province, it is expected that 98,970 children of the right age will receive vitamin A this time (including 14,351 children from 6 to 11 months old; 74,208 children from 12 to 35 months old; 10,411 children from 36 to 59 months old with diseases at risk of vitamin A deficiency).
To ensure the safe and effective organization of the high-dose vitamin A supplementation campaign for children, the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control coordinated with media agencies to promote the campaign. Allocate the quantity of high-dose vitamin A to the Medical Centers of districts, towns and cities to implement the high-dose vitamin A supplementation campaign for children from 6 to 59 months of age during this period.
District, city and town health centers proactively develop implementation plans and strengthen propaganda activities on the necessity and significance of vitamin A for children's development. Supervise and support the guidance of commune, ward and town health stations to prepare well in advance of the campaign to screen subjects (all children aged 6-35 months, with special attention to children aged 36-59 months with diseases at risk of vitamin A deficiency), ensure medical supplies, vitamin A capsules, and organize appropriate drinking points.
Medical staff must ensure that children are given vitamin A in the correct technique and at the prescribed dosage. Organize and implement a campaign to ensure that 100% of children aged 6 to 35 months who are transients in the locality register to receive vitamin A this time.
During the 2 days of implementing the second phase of the high-dose vitamin A supplementation campaign, the Department of Health established 4 monitoring teams to evaluate the implementation activities in localities in the province to promptly learn from experience with the facilities to improve the effectiveness of the campaign implementation.
Vitamin A plays an important role in the health and comprehensive development of children. Previously, in the first phase of this year's vitamin A supplementation campaign held on June 1-2, the whole province had 101,179 children receiving high doses of vitamin A.
