Confidence in the new hospital
On the afternoon of July 11, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang chaired an online meeting with Can Tho City on the implementation of the investment project to build Can Tho Oncology Hospital. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the policy of removing obstacles for this project at all costs when the need for medical examination and treatment in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta is very large.
Regarding capital sources for project implementation, Can Tho must ensure sufficient counterpart capital as committed (about 262 billion VND). In the immediate future, the city reviews the total investment capital that the Central Government has allocated for the period 2021-2025 to propose transferring capital from projects that are behind schedule and have not been implemented (if any) to hospital projects. .
As soon as they read the above information, many patients waiting for radiotherapy at facility 1 of the hospital expressed their joy. Although the specific implementation time and finish date are unknown, this signal shines a ray of hope for many tumor patients throughout the region.
"We have faith that the hospital will be deployed, and any day soon will be a happy day. I say this not for me but for hundreds of other patients with tumors in their bodies. Hopefully Can Tho will have it." A new hospital that is spacious, clean and worthy" - Mr. Vo Van Lam (Vinh Long province) said.
Another patient emotionally shared: "For us, life is really short! Here, I'm glad that future patients won't have to stand in line for months waiting for radiation treatment like me."

Reduce force at the old hospital
Currently, Can Tho City Oncology Hospital has 2 facilities: Facility 1 on Chau Van Liem Street (Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District) and Facility 2 on Tran Binh Trong Street (An Phu Ward, Ninh Kieu District); In which, disease screening and treatment depends on facility 1.
For many years, Can Tho City Oncology Hospital has received a large number of patients for examination and treatment (because the entire Western region has only one high-quality treatment center in Can Tho City ), which has led to a situation. Overload.

That is also one of the reasons why in 2017, Can Tho City People's Committee approved the investment project to build a new Can Tho City Oncology Hospital (500 beds), 17 thousand square meters, total capital of more than 1,700 billion. VND from the Hungarian Government's ODA loan and the city's counterpart capital.
However, after 5 years, this project has only reached 21% of the construction volume because the loan agreement expired. The 2 years since construction stopped is also the time when facility 1 of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital has had more pressure to "burden" patients, the functional rooms have degraded, especially the outdated radiotherapy machines that have been used. Use about 15 years.

Specialist II Doctor Tran Thanh Phong - Head of the hospital's Radiation Therapy Department - shared: "We hope to soon invest in an additional accelerator radiotherapy machine in the old facility, and at the same time in the new hospital soon. was deployed to meet the needs of patients in Can Tho City in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general."
Mr. Vo Van Kha - Director of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital - said, with the construction and development of Can Tho City to 2030, with a vision to 2045 according to Resolution No. 59 dated August 5, 2020 of the Politburo. , Can Tho City Oncology Hospital will be one of the specialized medical centers in the Mekong Delta region. Implementing the Resolution, the hospital has continued to promote human resource training and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for patients.
