On the afternoon of October 14, at a press conference organized by the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Health informed about the death of a patient after treatment at a private clinic in the area.
Mr. Hoang Nguyen Duy - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Province Department of Health - informed that at around 11:10 a.m. on September 20, Mr. Y.H.N (40 years old, residing in Krong Pak district) went to Dak Lak General Clinic (Ngo Quyen Street, Buon Ma Thuot city) for a medical examination.
Doctor P.M.T of the clinic directly examined, prescribed paraclinical tests and diagnosed the patient with right orchitis and urinary tract infection, thereby prescribing intravenous antibiotic treatment for the patient. However, while receiving the drug, the patient had difficulty breathing, cyanosis all over the body, cold hands and feet, foaming at the mouth, and no pulse could be detected.
At this time, Doctor T diagnosed the patient with critical anaphylactic shock and removed all the mucus from his mouth, injected him with medicine and took him to the emergency room.
At around 2:00 p.m. the same day, the patient was taken to Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. After about 40 minutes of unsuccessful first aid, the patient was diagnosed with out-of-hospital cardiorespiratory arrest of unknown cause.
"The case is being handled by Buon Ma Thuot City Police. The Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health has suspended all operations of the Dak Lak General Clinic until the conclusion of the Police and the Department of Health's Professional Council is reached," Mr. Duy added.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that Mr. Y.H.N (born in 1984; residing in Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province) went to Dak Lak General Clinic for examination.
According to the admission record at the Emergency Department, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, the patient was admitted by doctor P.M.T and nurse L.T.V - medical staff of Dak Lak General Clinic.
Upon admission to the hospital, the patient had stopped breathing, stopped breathing, and was foaming at the mouth. It is currently unclear what treatment patient N received at the clinic.
According to the patient’s family, on the afternoon of September 20, Mr. N went to Buon Ma Thuot City to pay off a bank loan. When he left, he was very healthy, but later, the family was shocked to receive the news that he had died.
