On September 3, information from the Thai Nguyen Center for Disease Control said that in the past 4 days, many students living in the same dormitory at Thai Nguyen Industrial College (Son Cam commune, Thai Nguyen city) had symptoms of fever and headache and were taken to Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital for treatment.
On the evening of August 29, student VMC (born in 2008, residing in Sung Tra commune, Meo Vac, Ha Giang) - a student of the K57 Intermediate Electricity class - showed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting and was hospitalized, then fell into a coma.
The patient was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, multiple organ failure, acute heart failure, myocarditis, hepatitis B, and a very poor prognosis.
On August 31, the family asked the hospital to let C go home and then C died at home.
The other two cases are HMN (born in 2009) and TMM (born in 2009), students of the K58 intermediate class of Electricity B, both residing in Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province. One student had symptoms of abdominal pain, chest pain, and mild fever and was admitted to the hospital on the morning of September 1. The family then requested to transfer him to the National Children's Hospital for treatment.
A child was hospitalized on the morning of September 2, showing signs of convulsions. Samples were taken and sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to test for diphtheria and meningitis.
In addition, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital also recorded 11 other cases, all of whom are students at this college, with one or more symptoms such as fever, headache, dizziness, vertigo, and nausea, and were also transferred to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital for monitoring and treatment.
Regarding the above incident, Thai Nguyen provincial authorities have urgently implemented measures to prevent and control the epidemic at Thai Nguyen Industrial College.
