Son La - With the spirit of "Remembering the source of drinking water", Son La province is strongly implementing the Project to support housing for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives.

According to the review results of the People's Committee of Son La province, there are currently 178 households with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs in the province who need support to build new and repair houses. Of which, 78 households have newly built and 100 households have repaired with a total support cost of 7.68 billion VND.

According to the representative of the Son La Provincial Department of Construction, through inspection and assessment, the quality of the above houses has been degraded, damaged, and many houses have even been severely damaged. Most of these households are living in dilapidated houses, mainly made of wood, paint, bamboo, rattan... or temporarily living in relatives' houses.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee said that with the spirit of "Remembering the source of drinking water", Son La province is strongly implementing the Project to support people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives with housing, in order to improve living conditions, ensure social security and promote the deep tradition of gratitude of the nation.

The People's Committee of Son La province has issued a decision approving the Project to support housing for 178 households with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs in the province. For newly built households, VND 60 million/household will be supported and for repair households, VND 30 million/household will be supported.

Son La is a mountainous province, with a large area, mainly populated by ethnic minorities. By the end of 2024, the whole province will have nearly 36,000 meritorious people and martyrs' relatives. Over the years, the housing support policy has always received special attention from the province and has brought clear results. In the period of 2020 - 2024 alone, Son La has mobilized nearly 410 billion VND to build new and repair policies for more than 8,400 poor households, contributing to the completion of the elimination of temporary houses in many localities in the province.

"This project is a practical continuation, towards humanistic goals, helping people with revolutionary contributions have a safe place to live and stabilize their lives. The new houses will meet the "3 hard" criteria (background, frame, roof) with a minimum durability of 20 years. Repairmen must meet the "2 hard" standard, ensuring safety in harsh conditions in the Northwest mountainous area" - Mr. Viet said.

Supporting housing for families of people with revolutionary contributions and families of martyrs is not only a welfare policy but also a vivid manifestation of the consistent policy on social security, sustainable poverty reduction and building new rural areas.

Each newly built, spacious house not only helps families stabilize their lives but also adds confidence in the leadership of the Party, local government and spreads the spirit of gratitude in the whole society.
