The home of the people
No longer a distant dream, the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses has become a reality for Mr. Dinh Xuan Luu's family in Kim Phu commune, Quang Tri province. The house was repaired spaciously, with a fresh red tiled roof instead of the old, cramped corrugated iron sheets. Mr. Luu was moved to receive support from youth union members in transporting materials, dismantling, repairing and encouraging his family throughout the implementation process.
"Previously, the house was dilapidated, the family did not dare to dream of renovating it. Now that the State has paid attention, a group of young people come to help with bricks and corrugated iron. The new house is the last joy of life, a solid shelter from the rain and wind in old age, Mr. Dinh Xuan Luu shared.
Not far away, in Ka Ai village (Dan Hoa commune), Ms. Ho Thi Mang - a lonely Van Kieu ethnic woman, has just moved into a new house. "Every rainy season, I was very scared, lying down and not daring to sleep. I never thought I would be able to live in a brick-roofed house with tiled roofs like a mattress, she said.
In mid-July 2025, all the villages in the mountainous areas of Quang Tri seemed to be participating in the festival. The sound of barking, quarreling, and laughter on the construction site of hundreds of new houses. Behind each house is a story of solidarity, from cadres, soldiers, youth union members to neighbors, contributing labor and property to build a warm home.
Or in Tuyen Quang, after the heavy rains in July 2025, Ms. Lam Thi Thang, Hoa An commune, has absorbed the value of a solid house even more. The whole family no longer has to worry every time the rainy and stormy season comes. Ms. Thang's new house was built according to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the locality. Started in April 2025, after more than 2 months of urgent construction with the cooperation of the whole community, the house was completed. "I thank the Party, the State, local authorities and the people very much," Ms. Thang shared.
Each roof is built not only as a solid place to rest, but also a vivid symbol of the spirit of "remembering the source when drinking water", "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves". These are meaningful gifts, where the past is preserved and expressed gratitude, the present is sheltered, and the future is enhanced by humanity, compassion and community responsibility.
It can be seen that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is being vigorously and synchronously implemented across the country. Many provinces have mobilized the participation of the entire political system, in which mass organizations, armed forces, businesses, individuals... have contributed tens of thousands of working days, hundreds of tons of materials and tens of billions of VND to build houses for the poor.

Every roof is a promise to leave no one behind
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Tri is entering the final stage with the determination not to let any people live in temporary conditions as the rainy season is approaching. To date, thousands of poor, near-poor households and ethnic minorities, war invalids and sick soldiers have benefited from housing support policies.

Each house is a spiritual support, a foundation for people to stabilize their lives and develop. The most important thing is that when people see that the government does not abandon anyone, they will trust, accompany and contribute to the common development.
