On June 21, in Nam Can district (Ca Mau province), the Ministry of Health coordinated with the Navy to organize a survey program to assess the current situation and needs for support at Brigade 175 Hospital, Navy Region 5.
The working group of the Ministry of Health was led by Comrade Do Xuan Tuyen, Permanent Deputy Minister of Health. The delegation included representatives of the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the Vietnam Military-Civilian Medical Association, the Southern Ministry of Health Office, the Department of Health of Ca Mau province and the Nam Can District Medical Center. On the side of the Navy, there were Colonel Cao Van Son, Deputy Head of the Logistics - Technical Department of the Navy; Colonel Luc Duc Tien, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 5 and representatives of relevant agencies and units.
According to the report, Brigade 175 Hospital was newly built on an area of 220m2, including 2 floors with 16 functional rooms. In the first 6 months of 2025, the infirmary has performed well in the work of examining and treating officers, soldiers and people in the area. The rate of healthy soldiers reached 98.82%; the rate of hospital bed use reached 30%; the discharge rate was 85%; examination and medicine were provided to 165 cases, 1 case was treated for emergency care, and 25 cases were transferred to another hospital.
However, because the stationed area is in an area with many rivers, canals, ditches, and difficult transportation, the hospital's facilities and medical equipment are still lacking and not synchronous. Some essential equipment such as electrocardiograms, ultrasounds, digital X-rays, endoscopy, testing equipment, medical examination and treatment management software, etc. are not fully equipped or have degraded, affecting the quality of diagnosis and treatment.
Through a field survey, the Ministry of Health requested the 175 Brigade Hospitals to coordinate with relevant authorities to comprehensively assess the health care needs of officers, soldiers and people in the area. On that basis, prepare a report to the competent authority for consideration and as a basis for the Ministry of Health to study and support appropriate medical equipment in the coming time.
In a proactive spirit, the 175th Brigade initially proposed that the Ministry of Health consider supporting a number of necessary machinery, equipment, and medical supplies to improve the effectiveness of medical examination and treatment at the infirmary. At the same time, it is recommended to coordinate the organization of training courses and professional development to update new knowledge for the unit's military medical staff.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen acknowledged the spirit of overcoming difficulties and proactively taking care of the officers and medical staff of Brigade 175, and affirmed that the Ministry of Health will continue to accompany and closely coordinate with the Navy in the work of combining military-civilian medicine. Thereby, gradually improving professional capacity, contributing to increasingly better health care for the army and people in the border and island areas in the South of the Fatherland.
On this occasion, the working group of the Ministry of Health presented the 175 Brigade Hospitals with an electrocardiogram worth 35 million VND.
