Ca Mau resolutely opposes IUU fishing

Ca Mau - Strengthening the leadership of Party committees in combating IUU fishing, removing the "Y yellow card" warning of the European Commission.

News from the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Office on September 18 said that the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee officially issued a document directing Party Committees directly under the Provincial Party Committee; departments, branches, sectors; the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at the provincial level to strengthen the leadership of the Party Committee in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, removing the "Y yellow Card" warning of the European Commission.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee requests the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee; Party committees of communes and wards; departments, branches, sectors; the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to focus on propaganda, leadership, and directing the strict implementation of Directive No. 32-CT/TW, dated April 10, 2024 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in combating illegal, unreported, unregulated and sustainable development of the fisheries sector.

The Provincial People's Committee Party Committee leads the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches, sectors; People's Committees of communes and wards to effectively implement and complete tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing in the province.Clearly identify the roles and responsibilities of Party committees, Party organizations, and authorities at all levels, ensure specific assignments and decentralization, and clear implementation focal points; develop specific plans and programs, uphold the responsibility of leaders in leading and directing the work of combating IUU fishing and sustainable development of the fisheries sector in conjunction with performing assigned duties and tasks.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee requested the Provincial People's Committee to lead the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches, sectors; People's Committees of communes and wards to synchronously and drastically implement legal regulations on seafood in managing fleets, controlling fishing vessels at sea, at ports, and entering and leaving ports to ensure full compliance with regulations.

General inspection, review, and statistics on the number of fishing vessels in the province ensure a firm grasp of the current situation for each specific case, especially those at high risk of violating IUU fishing; strictly and thoroughly handle according to the provisions of law fishing vessels that are not eligible to participate in fishing.

The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations at the provincial level lead and direct the strengthening of propaganda, mobilization, and widespread dissemination of the policy against IUU fishing, removing the "Y yellow card" warning of the European Commission in appropriate forms to member organizations, union members, association members and people of all walks of life; improving the effectiveness of monitoring and social criticism activities, contributing to the effective implementation of the fight against IUU fishing in the province.
