At Highway base, Abyei area, the United Nations Interim Security Mission (UNISFA) solemnly organized the Medal "For the Cause of United Nations Peacekeeping" award ceremony for 184 officers and staff of Engineering Team No. 4 and individual officers on duty at the Mission.
This noble award was awarded by the United Nations to recognize individuals and collectives who have made outstanding contributions, demonstrated the spirit of overcoming difficulties and professional bravery throughout their term of office in the harsh Abyei land.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha - Commander of the Military Forces cum Acting Head of the UNISFA Mission - emphasized: This medal is not only a worthy recognition for your persistent efforts, but also a testament to your practical contributions. From turning dangerous intersections into safe and sustainable infrastructure like the Banton Bridge, to ensuring the smooth flow of nearly 100km of traffic arteries in a harsh combat environment, you have affirmed your excellent technical capacity and courageous spirit.
More than just material works, you have truly become "exemplary ambassadors", building solid bridges of trust between the local community and the United Nations" - Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha said.
On behalf of the delegation of the Ministry of National Defense, Colonel Pham Tan Phong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, expressed his honor at the recognition of the United Nations for the Vietnamese peacekeeping force.
Colonel Pham Tan Phong praised the outstanding achievements of Engineering Team No. 4 and individual officers, affirming: These noble medals are worthy recognition of the bravery, spirit of overcoming difficulties and professionalism of the comrades in the harsh area.
Colonel Pham Tan Phong expressed his belief that each soldier will continue to maintain the noble qualities and image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the eyes of international friends, and excellently complete the assigned mission in the remaining journey.
During their term of office, Engineering Team No. 4 not only excellently completed technical tasks, ensuring key infrastructure, but also made a strong impression through military-civilian activities (CIMIC).
The image of Vietnamese green helmet soldiers actively supporting medical examination and treatment, repairing schools, making tables and chairs for students has become a "bridge" of compassion, making an important contribution to maintaining stability and building trust in the Abyei area.
