Cao Bang - Among the thousands of stray pigs, there are lives of fierce lives in poverty and loneliness.

For many years, 4 mountainous hamlets of Duc Xuan commune (including Lung Ri, Ca Rai, Lung Thoc, Lung Duoc) with 120 households and 633 people have always had to live in a state of severe lack of domestic water.

The rocky terrain makes it difficult to store and exploit water, people have to travel dozens of kilometers to get dozens of liters of water to meet their daily minimum needs.

On July 29, great news came to the people when Hoa An commune mobilized resources to drill a 88m deep well in Lung Ri hamlet. The first well to release water in the water is a great joy for the people. "With water, my family will grow more vegetables, raise more pigs and cows," said Mr. Ngo Van Lai, a resident of Lung Ri emotionally.

Mr. Ngo Van Xi - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lung Ri Hamlet - said that the appearance of a well helps people no longer have to travel far to get each can of water.

To achieve this result, Hoa An commune mobilized the entire political system, organized geological surveys, drilled exploration to find underground water corridors, determined to solve the problem of water shortage for people at the root.

Not only lacking water, the lives of people in the Duc Xuan highlands are also facing many difficulties.

A typical example is the household of Mr. Ly Van Sinh (born at 28, Lung Duoc hamlet) living in a "3 no's" situation: no electricity, no roads, no phone signal.

His wife died early, Mr. Sinh raised 3 children alone, including 2 sons with mental illness and could not be independent. The only daughter is not married because she is worried about her father and younger siblings.

On May 17, the reporter noted that Mr. Sinh's small house was located in the middle of the old forest, nearly a 15-minute walk from the residential area along the rugged trail.

Despite diligently growing corn, potatoes, raising chickens and cows, the lives of the four children are still living in poverty, without the conditions to move to a more favorable place.

"There are currently 3 households in the hamlet without electricity, but Mr. Sinh's family is the most difficult," said Mr. Ly Van Thanh - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lung Duoc village.

Recently, Hoa An commune organized a solar light donation event for poor households in Lung Duoc, including Mr. Sinh's family. At the same time, the working group also surveyed and prepared to install 40 solar light poles in Lung Ri, Lung Thoc, Ca Rai and Lung Duoc hamlets to serve daily activities and ensure security and order.

Receiving the gift, Mr. Ly Van Sinh expressed his emotion: "Previously, when the house had no electricity at night, I just needed to go to sleep, now that the gifts from the locality have come, my father and I will try to grow better to escape poverty".

Mr. Luan Chien Cong - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Hoa An commune - said: "In the immediate future, the commune will deploy the installation of solar lights to make people travel more conveniently and safely at night. In the long term, we will continue to call for support to help especially disadvantaged households like Mr. Ly Van Sinh's family soon stabilize their lives".

The efforts from the local government have brought new confidence and hope to the people of Duc Xuan highlands, as they gradually have clean water, light and sharing care to overcome difficulties soon.
