On September 22, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province approved the allocation of rice to support students in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year and supplemented the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year according to Decree 66 of the Government on policies for children in kindergartens, students, and trainees in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, coastal areas, islands, and educational institutions with students enjoying policies.
Of which, in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, 17,875 students were supported, with more than 1,334 tons of rice; in the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year, 5,782 students were supported, with more than 433 tons of rice.
The rice source is issued by the State Reserve Department of Region XI, distributed at the center of communes and wards in 2 batches: batch 1 before October 25 and batch 2 before November 25.
The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training as the focal point, coordinating with the State Reserve Department of Region XI and localities to organize the delivery of rice to support students according to regulations.
Guiding the organization of cooking for boarding students and ethnic minority students, ensuring suitability to actual conditions, meeting nutritional requirements and food safety and hygiene.
The Department of Finance studies and advises competent authorities to review and allocate funding for policy implementation, and at the same time deploy investment programs and projects to strengthen facilities for educational institutions under the regulation of Decree 66.
The People's Committees of communes and wards coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and related units to seriously implement, direct educational institutions to compile a list of beneficiaries and advise competent authorities to arrange implementation funding.
In case of arising problems, agencies, units and localities must promptly report to the Department of Education and Training for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.
