More than 2,100 households in Ben Tre need housing support

Ben Tre - In 2025, more than 2,100 households in the whole province will need support in building and repairing houses.

On April 1, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Ben Tre province held its third meeting. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Ben Tre province.

According to the report, the total number of households wishing to support the construction and repair of houses for households with meritorious services, poor households, near -poor households and disadvantaged households in the province in 2025 was 2,101 households. In particular, the need to support new construction of 1,462 households and repair 639 households, with a total budget of more than 106 billion dong.

Phase 1 (expected to be completed before April 30, 2025), the total number of households in need of construction and repair support is 1,031 households, of which 701 new households will be built and 330 households will be repaired, with a support budget of more than 51 billion VND.

As of March 28, 2025, the whole Ben Tre province has started construction of 413 houses, of which 17 houses have been completed. The province has also allocated more than 21 billion VND to 471 households belonging to meritorious households, poor households and near-poor households. For 560 disadvantaged households alone, provinces, districts and communes are actively mobilizing funds for implementation.

Phase 2 (expected to be completed before October 31, 2025), the total number of households in need of support for house construction and repair is 1,070 households, including 761 newly built households and 309 repair households, with a support budget of more than 54 billion VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee - requested the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Districts and Cities in the area to urgently direct and increase the mobilization of more resources to complete the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in phase 1 before.

Concluding the meeting, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ben Tre province - requested localities to thoroughly grasp the task at the grassroots level, urgently speed up to complete the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province before June 30, 2025. Because this is a task of great significance, bringing profound human values to the people.

The Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee also suggested that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to mobilize maximum resources, contributing to reducing the cost of building and repairing houses for people. The Department of Finance coordinates with relevant agencies and units to review funding sources to submit to the Standing Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee, thereby having specific support plans for the people. For specific cases that are still stuck, localities need to proactively handle them according to their authority to ensure the set progress.
