Lam Dong - The Provincial People's Committee directed functional agencies to monitor and evaluate clean water in rural areas to contribute to building new rural areas.

On October 31, information from Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that the unit has just issued a plan to deploy a set of indicators to monitor and evaluate rural clean water.

This is to assess the situation of clean water use in rural areas and the operating status of centralized water supply works.

The index set includes 6 indicators such as: Percentage of households using hygienic water; Percentage of households using standard water; Percentage of poor households using hygienic water; Average amount of water supplied per person and Percentage of water supply works with sustainable management.

This plan aims to support management agencies in planning and directing rural water supply, and contribute to the assessment of clean water indicators in the new rural development program.

To carry out this task, communes, districts and cities will carry out many activities from training on data collection methods for staff to assessing water quality at 100% of centralized water supply works.

In particular, the relevant authorities will be responsible for testing household water samples according to appropriate models. Funding sources are guaranteed from the State budget and other legal sources.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee clearly assigns responsibilities to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Health, Department of Finance and People's Committees of districts and cities in developing estimates, coordinating sampling and updating data annually.
