Tornado devastates 22 houses in Gia Lai, proposed support according to damage level

Gia Lai - Tornadoes devastate 22 houses, causing damage of more than 700 million VND. The Department of Agriculture and Environment proposes to support up to 40 million VND for severely damaged households.

The thunderstorm and tornado in Bia Ngó village (Ia Chia commune, Gia Lai) on August 19 caused 22 houses to have their roofs blown off, damaged, and walls collapsed; some areas of perennial industrial crops and fruit trees were also damaged. Total damage is estimated at more than 700 million VND.

To help people soon overcome housing, restore production and stabilize their lives, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province proposed to the Provincial People's Committee the level of support for damage to housing and agricultural production.

According to the proposal, for houses damaged, roofs blown off or completely collapsed, the damage level is over 70% and people who have no place to live, poor households, near-poor households, households in difficult circumstances are supported with 40 million VND/household; other households are supported with a maximum of 20 million VND/household.

In case the house is heavily damaged, damage is from 50% to less than 70% and cannot be lived in, poor households, near-poor households, households in difficult circumstances are supported with 20 million VND/household; other households are supported with a maximum of 10 million VND/household.

For houses damaged from 30% to less than 50%, the support level is 2 million VND/household.

In cases of houses having their roofs blown off or minor damage, in addition to the above levels, Ia Chia Commune People's Committee proactively mobilized socialized sources and other legal sources to support people in repairing and overcoming.

Regarding agricultural production damage, Ia Chia Commune People's Committee is responsible for reviewing and correctly identifying the subjects, areas and actual extent of damage; preparing dossiers according to regulations, ensuring publicity, transparency and not allowing duplication of support.

Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested Ia Chia commune to continue to mobilize forces and vehicles to support people in repairing and overcoming houses, ensuring safety and soon stabilizing life; monitor weather developments, proactively implement response measures, and not be passive.

Urgently inspect, review, and accurately determine damage to houses, property, and crops of each household; classify the extent of damage, identify beneficiaries and levels of support in accordance with regulations.

Based on the review results, Ia Chia commune proactively used the commune budget and mobilized other legal resources to support people to overcome the consequences according to their authority.

In case the demand exceeds the balancing capacity, the locality must report and propose to competent authorities for consideration and resolution.
