Dak Lak - Provincial functional agencies are focusing on preventing hand, foot and mouth disease from breaking out in schools in the area.

On April 2nd, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that from the beginning of 2026 to now, 5 outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease have been recorded in the area and all have been detected and handled promptly. Cases mainly appear in preschool and primary education institutions.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Principal of Binh Kien Kindergarten, said that the school has just recorded 2 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. After 10 days of monitoring, no new cases have arisen.

Immediately after detecting the case, the school informed the health station to carry out disinfection and guide appropriate prevention and control measures. At the same time, teachers closely monitor the children's health situation to promptly handle it when necessary.

Faced with the risk of increased epidemics, the Department of Health and the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province have issued documents directing, urging and guiding preschool, primary school, and childcare facilities in the area to fully, promptly, and effectively implement measures to prevent and control hand, foot, and mouth disease. In particular, pay attention to remote and densely populated areas where ethnic minorities live.

Disease prevention and control in schools is required to be carried out seriously, with close coordination between schools and local health departments. At the same time, strengthen coordination with parents in caring for and preventing epidemics for children.

Units identify this as a key and regular task. In addition, inspection and supervision work is also strengthened to ensure that epidemic prevention and control measures are maintained continuously and effectively.
