On July 31, the People's Committee of Hai Chau Ward (Da Nang City) held an inauguration ceremony, handing over two houses that were repaired and supported by the temporary and dilapidated house removal program to the households of Ms. Tran Thi Xi (Trung Nu Vuong Street) and Ms. Vo Thi Hong (Bach Dang Street).
This is an activity within the program "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" - a humane and practical policy - to support households in particular in difficulty to improve their housing and stabilize their lives.
In this program, many sponsors and benefactors have joined hands with local authorities to support the cost of repairing and rebuilding dilapidated and severely damaged houses. Not only bringing a solid roof, the program also adds confidence and hope to the people for a more stable future.
Among the households that were handed over their houses this time, Ms. Vo Thi Hong, who lives in a small alley on Bach Dang Street, emotionally shared: "My house was damaged when it was previously roofed with corrugated iron, it leaked during the rainy season, and every time there was a heavy rain, I could not sleep."
After receiving repair support, Ms. Hong was moved because her family now has a more spacious and clean place to live, no longer worried about leaking when it rains.
In the same difficult situation, Mrs. Tran Thi Xi's family (on Trung Nu Vuong Street) lives in a small house with up to 12 people living there, including 4 generations living together. After being repaired and expanded, the house became more spacious, making the whole family's daily activities more convenient and safer than before.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Duy - Chairman of Hai Chau Ward People's Committee - emphasized: "For Hai Chau Ward, as a ward located in the city center, there are many splendid works, attracting many tourists to visit.
However, going deep into the alleys, there are still disadvantaged families, damaged houses but not enough money for repairs, so the People's Committee of the ward is very concerned about the problems of the people, and is also very happy that people have a stable and safe place to live".
Supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses not only solves the need for housing but also demonstrates the responsibility and support of authorities at all levels in caring for the lives of people, especially households in difficult circumstances in urban areas.
Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, as of July 28, 2025, Da Nang City has completed 11,589 houses and is implementing the construction of 712 houses. The total cost of implementing this program is more than 340 billion VND.
Localities are committed to completing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households and disadvantaged households before August 15 this year.
