At the working session with the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions on December 24, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Tuyen Quang province Nguyen Van Dung informed that after the merger, Tuyen Quang province has 124 commune-level administrative units with a natural area of over 13,790 km2; population of over 1.8 million people.
Of which, ethnic minorities account for over 1.3 million people, accounting for over 73% of the province's population with 45 ethnic groups, 5 ethnic minorities with very few people: Pa Then, Pu Beo, Bo Y, Lo Lo, Co Lao.
In recent years, Party committees and authorities from the provinces to the grassroots have always paid attention to effectively implementing the policies and guidelines of the Party and State on ethnic work and ethnic policies, focusing on the National Target Program (NTP) for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030, period I from 2021-2025.
According to Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Tuyen Quang province Nguyen Van Dung, the economy and society of ethnic minority areas are constantly developing. By the end of 2024, the rate of ethnic minority poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard will be 31.4%, expected to be 27.7% by the end of 2025.
Complete the Plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for households with housing difficulties in the period of 2023 - 2025 with a total of 15,083 houses, support budget of over 789 billion VND in August 2025.
Thanks to that, the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities has been gradually improved, infrastructure has been invested synchronously; The rate of poor households in ethnic minority areas has decreased over the years; The work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity has achieved many positive results; Security and order in border areas and ethnic minority areas have always been maintained stably.
Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Tuyen Quang province Nguyen Van Dung emphasized that the achieved results have important contributions from prestigious people, typical and advanced groups and individuals in the ethnic minority area, contributing to strengthening the spirit of solidarity among ethnic minorities in Tuyen Quang province.
