On September 13, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan worked with Phu My Dong Commune People's Committee on the operation of the apparatus and the socio-economic development of the locality after the merger.
In the third quarter, the total product value of the commune reached more than 820 billion VND, an increase of 5.91% over the same period in 2024, equal to 54.78% of the plan for the last 6 months of the year. The value of the products alone reached more than 86 billion VND, an increase of 25.18%.
Regarding public investment, up to now, the commune has disbursed and paid 93.38% of the assigned capital plan (41.257/44.179 billion VND). Trade and services continue to expand in scale and quality, meeting people's needs.

At the meeting, Phu My Dong commune proposed that the province soon approve the Master Plan; allocate capital to upgrade the Deo Nhon - My Tho route (from My Tho intersection to the border with DT639); deploy a resettlement area for natural disasters in My Thang commune (old); invest in upgrading schools, health stations, radio stations; allocate additional civil servant positions to public service units in the commune.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged the commune's efforts in implementing the 2-level government model, and emphasized that Phu My Dong is identified as a "steel fist", the main growth pillar of the province.
He requested the locality to focus on site clearance to serve the development of industrial parks, especially processing and manufacturing industries associated with seaports and logistics.

The commune needs to focus on renovating rural urban areas, raising awareness of environmental protection, towards building a smart, green and friendly urban area, gradually turning rural residential areas into "a beautiful picture".
"Commune leaders must have an open and modern mindset, learn domestic and foreign planning models, take drastic actions to create strong innovation, and develop Phu My Dong", Mr. Tuan directed.
The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee believes that Phu My Dong will make a breakthrough in the next 5 years, develop on par with the province's advanced localities and gradually rise to the group of developed communes and wards of the whole country.
On the same day, the working group surveyed coastal routes, urban planning points, industrial parks and the planned location for the construction of a new administrative center of the commune.
Previously, on the morning of August 19, the Phu My Industrial Park project, phase 1, with a scale of more than 436 hectares, with a total investment of over VND4,500 billion, was started in Phu My Dong commune.
To link up the regional planning and create a premise for the formation of an industrial urban area - seaport in the future, on August 8, 2025, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province approved the investment policy for the Phu My Port project, phase 1, with a total capital of more than 6,000 billion VND.
The port has an area of about 205 hectares in Phu My Dong commune, expected to start construction in September 2026 and be put into operation from October 2028. The port is designed to directly connect with Phu My Industrial Park, serving the transportation of goods, supplies, equipment, containers and liquid/ air cargo..., meeting the production - transportation needs of the industrial park, promoting inter-regional trade and developing maritime logistics.
