On the afternoon of June 15, 2025, in Hamlet 5, Hung Nghia Commune, Hung Nguyen District (Nghe An), the family of Major General Vo Trong Thanh - former member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, former Director of Nghe An Provincial Police - and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of veteran revolutionary officer Vo Trong An - former Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - visited and presented gifts to express gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Chau.
According to Mr. Ho Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Association for Supporting Martyrs' families in Nghe An province, Nguyen Thi Chau is 94 years old this year, having 7 children (4 boys, 3 girls), of which two are martyrs. Currently, he is living with his grandchild in his hometown.
On the same occasion, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Province Martyrs' Family Support Association also presented a gift of gratitude to Mr. Chau - the only heroic Vietnamese mother living in Hung Nguyen district.
According to statistics, Nghe An currently has 2,825 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, of which only 30 are still alive. In Hung Nguyen district alone, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau is the only person living to be awarded this noble title.
To show gratitude to mothers who have meritorious services, nurture and contribute the blood and bones of their children to the Fatherland is a meaningful act, demonstrating the nation's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".
Over the years, Nghe An Province has supported martyrs' families with many active activities according to the set principles and goals. To date, the Association has presented 483 savings books and more than 16,000 gifts; supported the construction of 602 gratitude houses for martyrs' relatives; and welcomed dozens of martyrs' remains back to rest in the motherland.
