Border Guard Commander visits and inspects Phu Quoc

An Giang - After surveying some key areas in Phu Quoc special zone, the working delegation visited and inspected Ganh Dau Border Guard Station.

On May 19, Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the Border Guard, and a working delegation of the Border Guard Command visited, inspected, and worked in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province.

After surveying some key areas in Phu Quoc special zone, the working delegation visited and inspected the accommodation, office, and production area... of Ganh Dau Border Guard Station.

At the working session, the commander of Ganh Dau station reported to the Commander and the working delegation on the security and political situation in the area. Ganh Dau Border Guard Station manages a coastal section of about 33km from Ham Rong Mountain to Cua Can Reef; manages the historical water area of Vietnam - Cambodia of about 660km2. In the sea area managed by the unit, there are 4 small islands including Hon Bang, Hon Thay Boi, Hon Mong Tay and Hon Doi Moi.

Over the past time, the Party Committee and unit commanders have comprehensively deployed all aspects of border guard work; maintained good political and ideological education, building a comprehensively strong unit. Training and combat readiness are focused on; plans to protect units and handle unexpected situations are regularly practiced. The unit strictly implements patrol and control work; proactively fights against and prevents all kinds of crimes, especially smuggling, illegal entry and exit, and drug crimes. Mass mobilization work, in coordination with local Party committees, authorities, and functional forces, is maintained effectively, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety in the sea and island border areas.

At the working session, Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien acknowledged and highly appreciated the unit's performance of tasks in the past time. At the same time, he requested Ganh Dau Border Guard Station to continue to focus on leading, directing management, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty and border security; proactively coordinate forces to maintain security and order, and social safety in the sea and island border areas.

The Commander of the Border Guard Command requested the unit to promptly grasp the situation in the sea and island border area; proactively advise the Command Board and local authorities to effectively handle situations, not to be passive or surprised. At the same time, strengthen the work of grasping and forecasting the situation, effectively combating smuggling, trade fraud, illegal transportation of goods across sea borders and illegal entry and exit.

Along with the task of managing and protecting the border, Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien requested the unit to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the resolutions and directives of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and local Party committees and authorities; pay attention to political and ideological education, troop management, building regular order, law compliance, and discipline.

The unit is also required to strictly maintain combat readiness; closely monitor weather developments, natural disasters, and accidents at sea to promptly mobilize forces and vehicles to effectively handle situations. Logistics, technical, communication, and document security must be strictly implemented, meeting task requirements.

Previously, within the framework of the working trip, the Commander and the delegation came to offer flowers and incense at the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh, and burned incense at Uncle Ho's temple.
