On May 16, in Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang), Secretary of the Party Central Committee - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and worked with officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Command of Duong Dong port border gate (An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command).
Reporting at the working session, the Border Guard Command of Duong Dong port said that the Command manages the 22.9 km long direct sea border section, closely coordinates with forces to effectively manage and protect sea and island areas; prevent and combat illegal entry and exit and transportation of goods across the border area.
In 2025, 5 cases/5 subjects were detected and arrested; fined 115 million VND (evidence seized 1,790 packs of cigarettes); 14 cases/14 fishing boats/14 subjects were detected and arrested; 14 cases/14 subjects were handled. The total fine amount is 84 million VND. Organized for vehicles to write commitments on combating IUU illegal fishing for 658 vehicles. From the beginning of 2025 to now, implementing the directives of superiors on combating IUU, the unit has conducted patrols, inspections, and strict control of the sea area.
Speaking at the working session, Secretary of the Party Central Committee - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan acknowledged the achievements and efforts to overcome difficulties of the border guard force, especially in sea and island areas, border areas, the tasks are even more difficult and heavy.
Phu Quoc is a vital sea route to connect the Mekong Delta region, the Mekong Delta region with the whole country and with the international community.
