On July 13, at King Ham Nghi Temple in Thanh Tan So National Historical Site (Mai Dan Village, Cam Lo Commune, Quang Tri Province), Cam Lo Commune held a ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of King Ham Nghi's ban of Chieu Can Vuong (13.7.1885 - 13.7.2025).
140 years ago, after the events of the Hue Citadel fall, King Ham Nghi - the young patriotic king and his successors went to Son Phong Tan So (Mai Dan village, Cam Lo commune).
Here, on July 13, 1885, the king issued the Can Vuong Festival, calling on the entire people to unite and stand up against the invading French colonialists, opening hundreds of uprising incidents across three regions of the country, fostering patriotism and the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people.
From Tan So Citadel, the Can Vuong fire spread, gathering from poor farmers to farmers in lychee, lighting up the strong spirit of the people in the fight against against against the poor. Can Vuong Temple is not only a call to save the country but also becomes an invaluable spiritual heritage, laying the foundation for future patriotic movements such as Dong Du, Duy Tan and the August 1945 Revolution.

At the ceremony, in a solemn atmosphere, the Party Committee, government and people of Cam Lo commune respectfully offered incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the ancestors who sacrificed for national independence. The leaders of Cam Lo commune emphasized the determination to continue promoting revolutionary traditions, solidarity to build an increasingly beautiful and civilized homeland worthy of the land that was once the resistance capital.
