On November 28, Ly Hoa Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard) coordinated with the authorities of Dong Trach Commune, the Department of Fisheries and the Provincial Fisheries Control to verify 2 cases of fishing vessels losing connection to the journey monitoring device while operating at sea.
Previously, on November 27, the forces worked with Mr. H.D.T (43 years old) and Mr. P.V.V (43 years old), both residing in Nam Duc village, Dong Trach commune, to clarify the cause of the loss of the tracking signal of the fishing boat during the fishing trip.
Mr. H.D.T is the owner and captain of the QB 9.24xx-TS ship. According to monitoring data, the ship lost signal for more than 6 hours from 11:29 p.m. on November 12 to 8:10 a.m. on November 14 during the sea trip from October 8 to November 14. However, the ship owner did not send a report on the location to shore as prescribed.
Mr. T presented the boat departing from the port at Ninh Chu (Binh Thuan province) with 6 crew members. When the journey monitoring device is not connected, he does not detect and does not report location data to the shore station as prescribed.
Similarly, Mr. P.V.V's QB 9.29xx-TS ship lost connection from 3:40 p.m. on November 8 to 10:06 a.m. on November 9 but did not report its location. Mr. V said that the boat departed at Hoi Gate and used VX1700 equipment to send reports but then continued to fish without making regular reports every 6 hours.
Lieutenant Colonel Mai Xuan Truong - Political Commissar of Ly Hoa Border Guard Station said that the authorities had checked the records, met with the family, explained the violation clearly and requested a commitment not to repeat the offense.
Ly Hoa Border Guard Station informed that there was a somewhat subjective mistake because fishermen did not fully understand the regulations. When the journey monitoring device has a problem, fishermen must send a location report every 6 hours. Strict handling is necessary to deter and prevent similar cases.
Ly Hoa Border Guard Station is consolidating the case file and carrying out procedures to fine the two fishing vessels according to regulations.
