Thanh Hoa Provincial Tourism and Culture, Cinema Promotion Center in coordination with Muong Lat Commune People's Committee organized the opening ceremony of the training class "Restoring, collecting and developing Kho Mu ethnic dance in 2026".
The activities are implemented to improve the effectiveness of the conservation of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in the area, while contributing to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values that are facing many challenges in the socio-economic development process.
For the Kho Mu people in Muong Lat, folk dances are not only a form of community cultural activity but also reflect spiritual life, beliefs and the close relationship between people and nature. However, many ancient dance melodies and movements along with traditional performance forms are at risk of fading or being changed compared to their original forms.
The training class is organized with the goal of collecting, restoring and systematizing the artistic values of Kho Mu folk dance. Thereby, contributing to preserving the unique cultural identity, while creating conditions for traditional art to continue to be preserved and spread in contemporary life.
During the training period, trainees were directly guided by artisans on traditional dances, learned about the origin, meaning of each movement and the role of dance art in the daily life, labor as well as beliefs of the Kho Mu community.
Through the program, the organizers expect to build a source of materials to serve conservation work, and at the same time promote the mass culture and arts movement in the locality. The values restored and preserved from the training class will contribute to enriching the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups in the coming time.
