Food blogger Wowsung said that because of its distinctive aroma, Vietnamese beef noodle soup is less popular among Koreans than pho.

Having lived in Vietnam for more than 10 years, Korean food blogger Park Woo Sung (also known as Wowsung) has a special affection for Vietnamese cuisine.

Recently, he posted a humorous video sharing the reason why Koreans prefer pho over Hue beef noodle soup on his personal YouTube page.

According to Wowsung, during her pregnancy, his wife suffered from morning sickness so he had to limit eating "strong smelling" foods that he still loved, such as beef noodle soup or foods cooked with garlic.

That's why after his wife gave birth, the first dish Wowsung immediately had to enjoy was beef noodle soup. The male blogger revealed that his Vietnamese mother-in-law was the one who cooked the beef noodle soup for her son-in-law to enjoy.

Wowsung said he likes to add a lot of chili to his beef noodle soup. This is quite understandable, because most Koreans love spicy, hot dishes.

In addition, food bloggers assert that for Koreans, beef noodle soup is similar to durian. Those who can smell it will love to eat it, but those who can't will never "touch it with chopsticks".

Although both are soup dishes, because of the characteristic fish sauce smell, beef noodle soup is not as popular among Koreans as pho. Wowsung also humorously affirmed that he eats and likes both traditional Vietnamese dishes, but has a little more love for beef noodle soup.

Previously, Wowsung devoted a video to explaining why Koreans like to eat soups in general. Besides making you feel full but still light, Vietnamese noodles or pho have many toppings, are nutritious and suitable for winter.

Wowsung's YouTube channel currently has more than 200,000 followers. The food blogger regularly posts videos with content related to exploring and comparing the cuisine and culture of Vietnam and Korea.

He is said to have a taste that is unmatched by Vietnamese people, being able to eat most famous specialties, even dishes that are considered difficult to eat for foreigners.

Wowsung is loved by many on social media platforms thanks to his handsome appearance, humorous personality and ability to speak Vietnamese fluently. In 2023, he officially opened a Vietnamese restaurant in Korea and received support from many diners.
