The culinary website Taste Atlas has announced a list of 89 best stews in Southeast Asia and Vietnam's beef stew has ranked 9th with 4.4 stars.
According to Taste Atlas, beef stew is a popular Vietnamese stew that can be eaten alone or with banh mi and herbs. Beef stew is made from thinly sliced beef, carrots, lemongrass, cinnamon, chili, pepper, garlic, and shallots and simmered until fragrant.

The next Vietnamese dish honored by Taste Atlas is chicken curry (the Vietnamese version of Indian chicken curry). Chicken curry ranked 22nd with 4 stars.
Chicken curry is made from chicken, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, coconut milk, chicken broth and many spices such as lemongrass, fish sauce, bay leaves and curry powder. This dish is usually served with white rice.

Besides the above two dishes, Vietnamese offal stew and thang co are also highly appreciated by Taste Atlas and ranked 58th and 87th respectively.
Also topping the list of 89 best stews in Southeast Asia is Thailand’s Phanaeng curry with 4.7 stars. This is a signature Thai curry with a smooth texture and rich flavor that combines the salty and sweet flavors of peanuts.
This dish is made from meat stewed in coconut milk, phanaeng curry paste, Makrut kaffir lime leaves, fish sauce and palm sugar. The meat commonly used in phanaeng curry is beef, chicken, duck or pork and this traditional dish usually does not include any vegetables.
