Before coming to Vietnam to enjoy bun cha in 2016, former US President Obama made Japanese sushi a fever.
Sukiyabashi Jiro - a famous sushi restaurant located under the Ginza subway station in Tokyo has become the focus of international media after welcoming former US President Barack Obama and late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to dine in 2014.

This restaurant with only 10 seats is run by legendary sushi artist Jiro Ono - who is considered one of the best sushi chefs in the world.
Sukiyabashi Jiro also appeared in the famous documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi and owns 3 prestigious Michelin stars.
According to US and Japanese media, the dinner between Mr. Obama and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe lasted up to an hour and a half, much longer than the usual dining time at the restaurant.
After eating, Mr. Obama attracted attention when complimenting: "That's some good sushi right there".
After the visit of the former US President, Sukiyabashi Jiro continues to become a destination sought after by many international diners.
Many tourists see this as the "sushi symbol" of Japan thanks to the sophisticated omakase menu and typical traditional service style.

The restaurant space is quite small, modestly located in the basement of the Ginza area but famous for sushi portions meticulously prepared from seasonal ingredients. Each serving consists of about 20 pieces of sushi served directly by the chef right at the counter.
Many international culinary websites believe that Barack Obama's visit not only helps Sukiyabashi Jiro restaurant become more widely known but also contributes to promoting Japanese culinary culture to the whole world.
