According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 13:00 on September 1, the center of storm No. 5 was located at about 19.9 degrees North latitude; 114.4 degrees East longitude, over the northern sea area of the Northern East Sea.
The strongest wind near the storm center is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10. The storm is moving in the Northeast direction at a speed of about 20km/h.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move in the Northeast direction at a speed of about 15km/h. By 1:00 PM on September 2nd, the storm's center will be at about 21.8 degrees North latitude - 117.1 degrees East longitude, over the northeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea. The storm maintains wind intensity of level 8, gusts of level 10.
By 1:00 PM on September 3rd, the storm will move in a Northeast direction, then move to the Northwest at a speed of 5-10km/h. The storm center is forecast at about 22.8 degrees North latitude - 117.7 degrees East longitude, wind intensity level 8, gusts level 10.
By September 4, the storm will continue to turn west at a slow speed of about 3-5km/h and gradually weaken into a tropical depression over the sea area southeast of Guangdong province (China).
After 72 hours, the tropical depression is forecast to continue moving in a West-Southwest direction at a speed of about 3km/h, gradually weakening in intensity.
Due to the impact of the storm, the northern sea area of the Northern East Sea has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, sea waves 3-5m high. The area near the storm center passing through has strong winds of level 8, gusts of level 10, waves 4-6m high, strong rough seas.
The meteorological agency warns ships operating in dangerous areas that are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
Currently, storm No. 5 has not directly affected the mainland of Vietnam. However, storm developments tend to be complicated when continuously changing direction of movement, so ships need to closely monitor forecast bulletins to proactively prevent and avoid.
