Heavy rain forecast to continue in Hanoi, many roads are deeply flooded

Hanoi weather forecast has heavy rain lasting until this evening, September 30, causing flooding on many roads.

According to the rain forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on satellite images at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, September 30, lightning positioning data and weather radar images showed that convective clouds still exist and continue to thrive in the areas: Hong Ha, Bo De, Hai Ba Trung, Bach Mai, Vinh Tuy, Phuong Liet, Tuong Mai, Hoang Mai, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, Dong Da, Yen So...

From around 3pm to 7pm tonight, the above areas and the surrounding areas of Hanoi's inner city will continue to have showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

Recorded at noon and afternoon of September 30, heavy rain poured down on the wards of Thanh Xuan, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Hai Ba Trung... causing many roads to be deeply flooded, making it impossible for vehicles to travel.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting informed that the rainfall from 7am to 3pm on September 30 was over 150mm in some places such as: Dong Quang station (Thai Nguyen) 193.6mm, Kim Anh station (Hanoi) 234.4mm, Chuc Bai Son station (Quang Ninh) 154.6mm...

It is forecasted that from the evening of September 30 to the morning of October 1, Lai Chau, Lao Cai provinces and the northern area of Tuyen Quang province will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 50-100mm, some places over 170mm.

Other places in the North and Thanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20-50mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (more than 100mm/3 hours).

From the afternoon of October 1, heavy rain in the above areas will gradually decrease.

People and tourists should avoid the inner city of Hanoi to avoid going out during heavy rain, beware of the risk of flooding on many roads. If it is necessary to go out, you should carefully consider the route to avoid serious flooding and congestion on the roads.

Some areas recorded over 150mm of rain in just 120 minutes.
