However, from the evening and night of June 8, a late-season cold air wave will affect the North. Under the impact of cold air combined with a compressed low pressure trough, this area is forecast to experience widespread heavy rain.
During this rain, the Northwest region and the north of Tuyen Quang and Phu Tho provinces will have common rainfall from 50-100 mm, some places may exceed 200 mm. The remaining localities in the North, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, are forecast to have rain from 20-50 mm, locally over 100 mm.
The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain with high intensity in a short period of time may cause flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas, and at the same time increase the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
From June 9, rain tends to gradually decrease in the Northeast region, but still maintains widespread in the Northwest region. Temperatures in the North also decrease significantly after cold air arrives, ending the prolonged heat wave in recent days.
