According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the summer weather in 2026 in Vietnam tends to have increased heat from April and gradually expand to many areas across the country.
From April, hot weather in the Southeast region began to increase in intensity and spread to the Central Highlands and the Southwest region.
By the end of May, hot weather is likely to expand to the North and Central regions, with intensity gradually increasing in the following months of summer.
During the interseasonal period in May-April, some areas such as the Northwest, North Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions may experience interseasonal rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The rainy season in the North and South is forecast to start around mid-May, equivalent to the multi-year average, while May-June may have many periods of moderate to heavy rain.
The average temperature across the country during this period is generally close to the multi-year average. Especially in the Northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An in April, it may be about 0.5-1 degree Celsius higher.
Regarding total rainfall, forecasts across the country are generally at a level equivalent to the multi-year average; in June in the North and provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Hue City, it may be about 5-10% higher.
The meteorological agency also assessed that storms and tropical depressions operating in the East Sea during this period are at a level equivalent to the multi-year average. However, the Southwest monsoon, storms and extreme weather phenomena such as hot sun, heavy rain, and thunderstorms may affect tourism, production and people's lives.
People and tourists regularly update short-term weather forecasts for 1-3 days to proactively adjust travel, tourism and outdoor activities plans in the summer.
