The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (June 15) in regions across the country.
On June 15, the Northern Delta region continued to experience hot weather with the highest temperature commonly from 35-36 degrees C, with some places above 36 degrees C.
In the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, hot and intense heat covers many places. The highest temperature is commonly from 36-38 degrees C, in some places exceeding the threshold of 38 degrees C.
On June 16, hot weather will continue to be maintained in the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak. The highest temperature is commonly from 35-37 degrees C, some places above 38 degrees C.
The meteorological agency predicts that hot weather in the Central and Central Highlands regions will continue for many days to come. The level of natural disaster risk due to hot weather is warned at level 1.
Prolonged heat increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, and forest fires in areas with dry vegetation. At the same time, people are at risk of water loss, fatigue, and exhaustion if they work or operate outdoors for a long time.
Meanwhile, in the late afternoon and night of June 14, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 15-30mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm.
From the evening of June 15 to June 16, this area is likely to experience moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Common rainfall is from 30-80mm, with very heavy rain in some places over 170mm.
Notably, the meteorological agency warns of the risk of heavy rain, over 100mm within 3 hours, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
From the night of June 16 to June 17, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 40-90mm, locally over 200mm.
In the late afternoon and evening of June 14, the Central Highlands and Southern regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.
During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind that can cause damage to people and property.
