According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the North in the last days of April is clearly affected by cold air waves, causing widespread thunderstorms to return, temperatures to decrease and maintain a comfortable state.
On April 20, the Northwest region and the strip of land from the west of Hue City to Quang Ngai will experience showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places with a rainfall of over 30mm. By late afternoon and night, rain will expand to the Northeast, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, commonly 10-30mm, locally exceeding 50mm.

In the area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, thunderstorms also appear sporadically in the late afternoon, with rainfall in some places exceeding 70mm. During thunderstorms, the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind is warned at a high level.
From April 21-22, when the high-altitude wind convergence zone weakens, the North will temporarily reduce rain, the weather will turn sunny, and some places may experience light heat. However, this state will not last long.
Forecast from the night of April 22 to 24, a weak cold air wave will strengthen, combined with a low pressure trough being compressed down, which will trigger thunderstorms again throughout the Northern region. This rain wave may last for many days, with locally heavy rain, accompanied by extreme weather phenomena.
Due to the influence of cold air, from about April 23 to 26, the North maintains cool weather, with common temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius. This is considered a rare pleasant period before entering the peak of early summer heat.
Next, from April 27-29, another cold air wave continues to strengthen down to the North, causing thunderstorms to recur, the weather maintains a cloudy and cooling state.
In Hanoi, on April 21-22, it will be less rainy, with the highest temperature around 31-32 degrees Celsius. From April 23 onwards, under the impact of cold air waves, this area is likely to have thunderstorms again, lasting until the end of the month, and the temperature will decrease significantly.
Meanwhile, the weather in the Central and Southern regions tends to be opposite. From April 21, the hot low pressure area in the West will develop again, causing hot sun in the area from Nghe An to Hue City with common temperatures of 35-37 degrees Celsius, in some places above 37 degrees Celsius.
By April 22, hot weather expanded from Thanh Hoa to Hue, many places recorded 36-38 degrees Celsius. The area from Da Nang to Quang Ngai and some Central Highlands provinces also experienced hot weather, with intense in some places.
However, this heat wave is forecast to last only about 2-3 days. From February 23-24, thunderstorms will return to the North Central region, then spread to the Central Central region, helping to end the heat wave.
The South in this period continues to have localized hot weather, some places with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, before the possibility of thunderstorms increases from about 23-24. 4.
Meteorological experts believe that this is the transitional season, so the interaction between air masses, especially cold air waves, can easily cause dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. People and tourists need to closely monitor forecast bulletins to proactively prevent and ensure safety in daily life and travel.
