Experience when checking in to help tourists avoid trouble when checking out

Taking a photo of the room status immediately upon checking in is a simple experience to help tourists protect their rights throughout their stay.

When booking a hotel or resort room, many tourists often take advantage of resting or starting a sightseeing itinerary but forget to check the current status of the room. Meanwhile, just a few initial minutes of taking photos can help avoid many troubles when checking out.

According to travel experts, photos taken immediately after checking in are evidence if disputes arising about property damage or lack of items arise. Visitors should use a photo app with a timestamp feature to accurately record the time and status of the room before use.

When checking a room, you should take a panoramic view first, then record locations that are prone to controversy such as walls, floors, doors, furniture, refrigerators, TVs, safes and bathrooms. If cracks, scratches, or damaged equipment are detected, take close-up photos or videos as a basis when needed.

Guests should also check the number of towels, cloaks, hair dryers and other items in the room. Recording from the beginning will help compare when checking out, avoiding being asked for compensation for items that were missing or damaged before.

If you detect that the door is not locked securely, the window is stuck, the air conditioner is not operating stably, or the equipment has problems, you need to immediately notify the receptionist for handling or room change. Early notification helps the hotel confirm the current status and limit misunderstandings later.

As a frequent traveler, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam said that in addition to taking photos when checking in, he also spent about a minute recording the entire room before checking out. According to him, these images help prove that the room was kept in its original state throughout the stay.

Mr. Tam also recommended that images should only be saved for a few days to a week after the trip. If no problems arise, tourists can delete them to release phone memory.

It only takes a few minutes to do, but taking photos of the room status before and after staying can help tourists avoid unreasonable fees and unnecessary disputes, contributing to bringing peace of mind to each trip.
