But when night falls, the city puts on another coat: Gentle, magical and full of poems. It is a magical harmony of light, sound and countless stories sung in the heart of the city.
The brightest light in the music of that night was the streets that never sleep. Nguyen Hue walking street when lit up is as brilliant as a colorful festival. There, there is the singing of passionate street artists, there are the crispy applause to cheer on young people who are full of vitality, there are even couples of lovers who calmly hold hands and walk slowly, sometimes stopping by the lights, recording sweet moments of love. And during the big festival nights, this place seems to be on fire with a sea of people joining in the light, music and pride rolling in the hearts of every Vietnamese child.
In the Western streets such as Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham... another melody full of wildness, improvisation and freedom resounds. The music from the bars, the laughter of groups of friends from all over the world, and the brilliant neon lights create an atmosphere as vibrant as an undying joy. The night here is a series of endless sounds, moments when people forget distance, language and only the harmony between the souls burning out with life remains.
But the night of Ho Chi Minh City is not only filled with brilliant light and passionate sounds. The following are gentle notes for those who seek calmness. These are the old alleys with tired yellow lights from the old porch. It is a street vendor selling hu tieu, pasta, and chicken sticky rice to people who are late. The sound of the advertisement resounded in the middle of the night like a quiet, rustic love song, which contains humanity.
The Ho Chi Minh City Night may overwhelm someone with the bustling noise, but it can also make people feel down because of the quiet, humane moments. It is a delicate intersection between the old and the new, between the vibrant laughter and private stillness. Saigon night is sleepless, not only because the lights are not turned off, the vehicles are not stopped, but because the city is still quietly telling stories through light, through sound, through restless footsteps continuing the city dream.
Ho Chi Minh City, with its many leftovers that are difficult to name, makes people feel nostalgic every time they leave and always hope for a return. Because every time I set foot here, I opened a new chapter in the endless love song named Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon.
