Autumn in Japan is also known as the Momiji leaf season because at this time the space across the streets and hills of Japan seems to be immersed in a brilliant red and yellow color. In addition to Nikko and Kamakura cities, another ideal place for visitors to fully experience the most beautiful and realistic moments of autumn in the land of the rising sun is the Naeba ski resort, in the city of Niigata.
Coming to Naeba in the first two weeks of October, visitors will admire the decaying forests in the red of autumn. To see the whole scenery here from above, you should experience riding the Dragondola cable car.
Dragondola is considered the longest cable car in Japan, with a total distance of more than 5,400 m and a height of 425 m, each trip takes about 25 minutes. With this ideal height, visitors can go by cable car while admiring the beautiful autumn scenery below with extremely beautiful red, yellow, orange intertwined colors.
In addition, the Dragondola cable car also passes through the Kiyotsu River and Futai Lake. From mid- to late October, the trees around these two areas will gradually change color, creating a typical scene of Japanese autumn. In November, you can admire the karamatsu forest (in Japan) turning yellow. Looking down from above, the pine forest appears majestically and magnificently like a painting, making it difficult for visitors to take their eyes off.
Currently, Naeba figurehead ski resort has officially opened an autumn sightseeing tour on the Dragondola cable car. According to Time Out, this tour only operates until 6/11. Every day, cable car is open to visitors from 9am to 3pm.
Because autumn is the peak tourist season, the Dragondola cable car area is often crowded with visitors. Therefore, visitors can book in advance so they do not have to wait long. The price of a two-way cable car ticket is about 24 USD/adult (about 569,000 VND) and 14 USD/child (about 332,000 VND).
