Coming to Hang Pagoda in Hamlet 3, Chau Thanh Town (Chau Thanh District, Tra Vinh Province), visitors cannot help but admire the extremely unique architecture and also see with their own eyes the statues made from ancient tree wood. In addition, they can also hear the bustling sounds of flocks of birds in the temple grounds.

According to the Hang Pagoda Management Board, after a few years of construction (built in 1637), birds came to this place. But since the 1960s, bombs and bullets from war have made the pagoda yard quiet, without the sound of birds.
It was not until the 1990s that storks returned to Hang Pagoda to live. From a few dozen, then hundreds, at one point it was estimated that there were tens of thousands.

The pagoda is 7 hectares wide, with many endemic plant species such as star anise, oil, bamboo, bamboo, tamarind... mixed together in many different levels of high and low, very valuable in terms of the biosphere. This is a peaceful roof for birds to nest.

During the dry season, the heat around the pond dries up, so the birds go elsewhere to find food, leaving very few at the temple. But when it rains and the trees are lush, flocks of birds return.

The birds here are mainly white storks, ivory storks, storks, herons... up to thousands of individuals. Birds are everywhere. They are on the temple roofs, in the yard, in the trees... They are tame with people, walking around the temple grounds even when people come very close.

Monks and Buddhists here also regularly throw food to the birds. The temple has very strict regulations on protecting birds and forest trees, creating a peaceful natural environment for wild birds to come and live.
