This is a traditional festival held annually according to the rituals of the Suoi Giang H'Mong people to honor the ancient Shan Tuyet tea area and preserve the cultural identity of the H'Mong people.
The festival begins with a procession from the Suoi Giang Commune People's Committee headquarters to the site of the ancestral tea tree. The offerings are the freshest local agricultural products made by the local people such as sticky rice, wine, chicken, rice cakes, flowers, fruits, tea, and yellow and red paper items, incense, etc.
The celebrant is an elderly, virtuous, and prestigious person who understands the customs and practices of the H'Mong people, representing the villagers in the ceremony to worship the ancestral tea tree, express their wishes, and thank heaven and earth for blessing the villagers.
Through the festival, the locality hopes to continue to promote the image and products of Shan Tuyet tea from Suoi Giang commune to domestic and foreign friends; create an environment for businesses to have the opportunity to exchange, learn, and share experiences in planting, processing, trading, and investing in tea products.
Along with that, the festival also contributes to promoting tourism development linkages between localities in the province and districts, strengthening cooperation with localities nationwide; enhancing competitiveness to create new, attractive and unique tourism products of the locality.
Tonight (October 26), locals and tourists will be able to participate in the tea ceremony performance and tea tasting at the Tea Party on the Misty Mountain Top.
