The first Hung King Temple in the Mekong Delta
In the early 1940, about 750 families from Nam Dinh and Thai Binh settled in the Soc Son and Rach Gia areas (now Hon Dat district, Kien Giang), forming the place name Nam Thai Son - combined with "Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Soc Son". Remembering their homeland, people hope to have a place for community activities and a memorial of their roots.
To meet that need, Hung Temple was built in early 1943, and this is considered the oldest Hung King Temple in the Mekong Delta. Initially built temporarily, the temple has now been renovated and spacious.
Originating later, Hung Temple in Tan Hiep town (Tan Hiep district) is the only Hung Temple in the Mekong Delta that was first chosen to organize the Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony at the national level in 2010.
The temple was built in 1957 according to the desire to remember the origin of the Northern residents migrating to the South. From the original simple 80m2 architecture, the temple gradually invested, preserved and expanded. In addition to recognizing as a historical and cultural monument, Kien Giang province also built a new temple next to the ancient temple, with a total budget of nearly 60 billion dong from socialization. Currently the temple campus is 20,000m2 wide, with a solemn appearance.
Special things, hard to get anywhere
Not having the grandness of scale and color, Hung Temple in Kien Giang possesses many things that are hard to find anywhere in the system of more than 1,400 relics worshiping Hung Kings and characters related to the Hung Kings period across the country.
Hung Nam Thai Son Temple, besides the death anniversary (10th of the 3rd lunar month), there is also a celebration of the settlement day and especially the War Invalids and Martyrs' holidays. In addition to worshiping Hung King, community activities, this place is also a revolutionary basis in the anti -French and American resistance war. Therefore, besides the temple, there is also a beer house to remember the merits of the ancestors who have publicly reclaimed, Vietnamese heroic mothers, heroic martyrs lie down on this land.
Hung Temple in Tan Hiep is considered a symbol of "pink and pink grandchildren" on the southern land. Right from its inception, the temple has brought the meaning of indomitable will. It was once a home used by the government to allocate necessities to the people of the North. At the end of this, a religious leader sought to ask for the house to expand the influence. Realizing the intentions, the local elders quickly asked to be Hung temple.
In particular, the layout inside Hung Tan Hiep temple is a clear symbol of the spirit "Dragon Tien". Still according to the traditional three -space architecture, recreating Ha Temple, Trung Temple, Thuong Temple Nhu in Phu Tho, but the temple was creative in the way of expressing national aura through the diaphragm system and couplets. The main post engraved the words "Calendar of the Holy King of the Holy King", affirming the inviolable position of the Hung Vuong dynasty. This is also the highlight that makes up the unique features of Hung Tan Hiep temple in terms of opposite.
Local Nho chieftains have composed solemn parallel sentences, honoring the merits of the Hung Kings and the Lac Hong lineage:
"A million paints of heroic paint are enough for Van Lang to be absolutely young
The Hong Lac royal court's citizens are in an endless contest".
Even when quoting the dictionary, the elderly sought to refresh the endogenous meaning, but the great self in the highest position in the middle of the temple: "Carving God" is typical. These are 4 words in the book "University" - one of the "four letters" (4 classic books of Chinese Confucianism, including: University, Trung Dung, Essay and Manh Tzu) not only expressed his intention to praise the position of the King of the Southern Kingdom of Hung Vuong, but also as the inspiration for the Vietnamese people today and the future of national pride.
