On October 26 and 27, at the resettlement area of Dom Bai hamlet, Mien Doi commune, the fair was opened to display, promote, introduce and boost the consumption of OCOP products and typical products of regions of Lac Son district; combined with sightseeing and experiencing the beautiful natural scenery of Mien Doi commune.
At the event, a new rice celebration took place, a cultural and religious custom preserved by the Muong people in Hoa Binh. The new rice celebration was reenacted with a procession and offerings to the gods and ancestors who helped the Muong people have a good harvest.
In addition, athletes of Hoa Binh Runners Club ran to experience the terraced fields of the Hill Region with distances of 5km and 7km.
According to Lao Dong, the market takes place in the terraced fields during the ripe rice season, attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
In particular, the event also has outstanding activities including a Muong gong performance with 500 women and 100 Muong gongs, ethnic sports activities, and a cultural exchange night.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (28 years old, a tourist from Ha Nam) shared that when coming to Mien Doi, we could see terraced fields in the ripe rice season. In particular, the air here is fresh and cool.
Mien Doi is a highland commune of Lac Son district, where 99% of the population is Muong ethnic people. This locality is located about 130km from Hanoi and 60km from the center of Hoa Binh city.
The difference of the Hill Region is that the terraced fields are located on high ground, and the old primeval forests are interspersed. Some fields are also interspersed with majestic waterfalls, hundreds of meters high, pouring down like giant silk ribbons.
