Having worked in business, owning a house and a car in Korea, but because of his love for Vietnam after a trip last year, Jeong Jonghyeok decided to stick with the S-shaped strip of land.
He even sold his often used Mercedes car in Korea to start his new start. The 40-year-old male tourist chose Bac Ninh as the place where he will live and experience life in Vietnam from March this year under the guidance of a friend.
Mr. Jonghyeok shared: "In 2024, I traveled to Hanoi for a week. That "fateful" trip probably motivated me to move to live in Vietnam as I am now. Vietnam is truly a beautiful country, people always treat it friendly and kindly, even with a foreigner like me".
During his short time living in Vietnam, the Korean male tourist has continuously expressed his love. In both major parties this year, the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South in Ho Chi Minh City and the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 in Hanoi, he tried to blend in with this joyful atmosphere in the two major provinces and cities of Vietnam.
Mr. Jonghyeok even "went out" with the people to celebrate the victory of the Vietnamese football team or was not afraid to "hunt for tickets" to be able to participate in the concert "Fatherland in the heart" held on August 10. At each event, the male tourist always wears a shirt printed with the image of the Vietnamese flag and does not forget to carry the red flag with a yellow star to join in the great joy.
Jonghyeok also sets many goals for himself, in which studying and learning about Vietnamese history is one of the top priorities.
When the blockbuster "Red Rain" was released nationwide, Mr. Jonghyeok watched the film three times. The third time watching the film, he and a friend contacted and organized a free film viewing session to pay tribute to more than 100 veterans of Tan Ninh residential group, Canh Thuy ward, Bac Ninh.
" Watching movies with veterans is really special to me. They were passionate about watching the whole film and then, they were also passionate about telling me the fierce war stories that happened. Meeting people I have always respected is an extremely honorary and grateful thing. Maybe this is the most meaningful time for me in Vietnam," said Mr. Jonghyeok.
He also visited other provinces and cities such as Da Nang, Dien Bien, and Ha Giang. The experience on the recent "Hanoi 5th Gate" train made the Korean male tourist really impressed with the scenery of Hanoi and Bac Ninh through the glass gate.
In particular, Mr. Jonghyeok loves beef noodle soup and coffee in Vietnam. When eating Vietnamese pho, sometimes, he ate up to 2 bowls at a time to satisfy his "belly". In the near future, Mr. Jonghyeok plans to continue to spend more time visiting more provinces and cities in Vietnam.
