On August 29, the new rice festival and folk games were held to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, Son La province.
The festival is held from September 29 to 30 to preserve and promote the unique traditional values and cultures of the ethnic people of Ngoc Chien commune in particular and Muong La district in general.
Every year, the new rice festival is held by Ngoc Chien commune, with the meaning of summarizing the labor and production season, expressing gratitude to ancestors for blessing the family with a bountiful harvest and a prosperous life. At the same time, it is to thank the land, gods, and ancestors for bestowing blessings and luck on the village...

In addition, the festival is also an opportunity for people in 15 villages in Ngoc Chien commune to meet, exchange and learn experiences in agricultural production.
The organization of the new rice festival aims to preserve and promote the traditional cultural beauty of ethnic minorities who work hard all year round.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, a tourist from Hoa Binh, said: "Coming to Ngoc Chien land, I felt the hospitality of the people here. In particular, I enjoyed the traditional cuisine and the local arts. The landscape here is very beautiful, the stream flows around the golden rice fields creating a beautiful scene.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tuan, from Hanoi, shared that he is very interested in the folk games of the indigenous people.

Mr. Bui Tien Sy - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ngoc Chien Commune, Muong La District informed that the new rice festival aims to promote the cultural beauty of ethnic minorities. From there, it will attract investors and develop tourism in the commune.
At the same time, creating stable jobs for people, helping them have a full life, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.
Ngoc Chien Commune has more than 560 hectares of rice fields, spread across 15 villages, surrounding the stilt houses with Po Mu roofs of the Thai, Mong, La Ha ethnic groups... Every autumn, when the rice fields are dyed yellow by the sun and the aroma of rice, people excitedly hold a festival to celebrate the new rice.

Ngoc Chien commune belongs to Muong La district, about 80km northeast of Son La city with an average altitude of over 1,800m above sea level.
