Long Hoa Pagoda is recorded in historical records as being built by King Ly Nhan Tong in the 7th year of Hoi Phong (1099). The pagoda was built along with Tuong Long tower (Do Son), holding an important position in the Nui Voi - Do Son Buddhist Center of Dai Viet National.
After a period of deterioration, Long Hoa Pagoda has been restored and renovated to build many more items to create a spacious and beautiful complex of relics and spirituality on a total area of 7.5 hectares. The architectural items are in the traditional cultural and artistic style with the main ingredient being the four-stringed wood.
In the summary report on the restoration process of Long Hoa Pagoda phase 1 (2008 - 2024) by Venerable Thich Thanh Giac, the completed items include Dai Hung Bao Dien Temple, the Father House, the sermon area, the Zen monastery, the monk's chaplain and a large system of Buddha statues. Notable in the palace tower is the statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, made of 15 tons of bronze and recognized as the largest bronze statue in Hai Phong.
In the Long Hoa Pagoda grounds, there is a prominent cement statue of Phat Hoang Tran Nhan Tong, 5.2 m high. The majestic Phat Hoang statue on the top of Voi Mountain adds a sacred and ancient look to this relic complex.
Every year, at the beginning of spring associated with the traditional festival of Elephant Mountain, Long Hoa Pagoda welcomes tens of thousands of visitors to offer incense, pray for peace, and immerse themselves in a large, peaceful space.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Long Hoa Pagoda renovation project, representatives of the An Lao District People's Committee and Long Hoa Pagoda will implement the following 3 criteria: no entrance fee, no cheo service shops to attract visitors and no waste to ensure a green, clean and beautiful landscape of the Long Hoa Pagoda, making it an attractive spiritual and cultural tourism destination, attracting many tourists and Buddhists to worship.
In addition to Long Hoa Pagoda, the Nui Voi relic complex also includes existing relics such as the Women's Temple of General Le Chan, the Hang Thanh Commissar (where the 2nd Hai Phong City Party Congress, term 1968 - 1971 took place), Hang Hong Voi, Dinh - Chi Lai Pagoda, Hang Gia Vi, Tien Hoc cave... With historical - cultural relics, majestic natural landscapes, the Nui Voi historical relic site has become a red address, an attractive destination for sightseeing, research, experience and tourism for visitors from all over the world.
