Cao Linh Pagoda, also known as Bach Dang Giang Pagoda, is located in Nam Son Ward, An Duong District, Hai Phong City (formerly Bac Ha Village, Bac Son Commune, An Duong District). This is one of the pagodas with the most impressive architecture in Hai Phong and has the largest area of about 49,000 m2.
In the first days of the new year, crowds of people from all over flock to the famous sacred pagoda to pray for peace, burn incense... hoping to welcome a happy new year. In addition, locals and tourists also visit the pagoda to take photos and record beautiful memories of Tet.
Ms. Thanh Tu (Le Chan, Hai Phong) shared that every year the pagoda welcomes many people from all over the provinces to come here to burn incense and make offerings.
"Last year was a difficult year for my family. Today my family offers prayers hoping that everyone will have a new year with good luck and health," she said.
Thuy Tien, who is studying at Ngo Quyen High School, Le Chan District, Hai Phong City, expressed that this year she will have many important exams, so she came here hoping to have good luck in her exams.
"Every year when exam season comes, many students come here to pray for success in their exams, so I also want to come here to pray for a little luck in my upcoming important exams," he shared.
Cao Linh Pagoda was built 300 years ago during the Later Le Dynasty by the Le Van family in Ha Lien village. During major national wars such as the resistance war against the French, Cao Linh Pagoda was the place to protect patriotic soldiers from enemy bombs.
In 2011, the temple was restored to preserve and restore the traces of destruction and heavy damage by French colonialists.
