Yonhap news agency reported that the first snowfall of this year's season started from November 27 in Korea, about 9 days later than last year in 2023. However, the capital Seoul and surrounding areas welcomed a record-breaking heavy snowfall, and as of November 28, snow was still everywhere.
The first snowfall of the season will become a snowstorm when it falls heavily from the central region to the southeastern part of Korea, with a common thickness of 10 - 23cm.
This snowfall in Seoul is forecast to fall continuously from November 27 to the afternoon of November 28. Yonhap news agency said that some locations recorded particularly high snow thickness such as 47.5cm in Yongin city, 40km from Seoul; 40.2cm in Gwanak area of Seoul.
Gyeongbokgung Palace, a famous tourist destination in Seoul, sank in white snow on November 27.

According to The Guardian, the white snow covered everything in just one day, causing more than 200 flights to Korea to be delayed, about 90 ferries to anchor in the port, and many pedestrian routes to be closed and unable to receive passengers. Highways in and out of Seoul were blocked by the snowfall.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow warning as of the morning of November 28 for many areas such as Seoul, Gangwon province, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang. The snow is expected to fall until November 29, so local authorities are urging people and tourists to be cautious and warn of the danger when the roads are frozen.
